
New Federal Chairman at the Bundeswehr-Sozialwerk
Bonn, 26 January 2010 – After the death of the long-time Federal Chairman, Colonel (ret.) Siegfried Stief, on 6 January 2010, his 1st Deputy, Peter Niepenberg, succeded statutable until to the next Federal Convention in October 2010.
Peter Niepenberg, Vice-President of the Military District Adminstrative Office West in Duesseldorf, joined the Defence Administration after his degree in law in 1981. Until his appointment to the Vice-President in the year 2003, he held numerously high ranking positions within the Defence Adminstration.

CLIMS autumn meeting 2009 successful
Greece new member – Progress in cancellation guide lines
Budapest, 16 October 2009 - Crowned with a lot of success was this years CLIMS autumn meeting, which took place from 12 until 16 October 2009 at the Hungarian Government resort at Balatonöszöd at Lake Balaton, Hungary.
Greece was admitted unanimously as 13th member into the CLIMS. After one year as an observer, Greece was welcomed into the circle of the CLIMS by the acting CLIMS-President, Mr. Didier Gallet, France, as well as the present delegates of the meeting. Beside this highlight there were impassioned debates during the plenary session and bilateral talks about standard cancellation fees, also exchanges of quotas for international family holidays and the presentations of the upcoming multinational youth camps.
The highlight of the presidential meeting, which all delegates awaited eagerly, was the election of a new CLIMS presidency. Unanimously Brigadier General José Gil Colon, Spain, was elected to the President and Major General Dr. László Lakatos, Hungary, to the Vice-President. At the end of this meeting a long lasting discussion about standard cancellation fees came to an end. After long debates and consultations during the previous plenary meeting the majority of the national chiefs of the delegations approved the new standard cancellation fees, which will be implemented into the internal regulation of the CLIMS.
The four day lasting constructive meeting was completed by the traditional farewell dinner, which was officially opened by the Cabinet Chief of the Hungarian Ministry of Defence, Dr. Péter Szeredi. In his speech he pointed out, that the important work of the CLIMS is essential for the welfare of the members of the Armed Forces and their families.

New Executive Director in Bulgaria
Sofia, 15 September 2009 - Since 1st September 2009, the Bulgarian Executive Agency "Social Activities of the Ministry of Defence" has a new Director. Maria Dimcheva, a lawyer who had a long working experience in the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, succeeded Mery Sahandzhieva, who left the agency.
